Music plays in important role in anyone’s life that one may not be able to live without it. From the sound of the drums of the Tribesmen; from the classical music during the French Revolution; from the “break dance” and rap music of the 80’s’ now a distorted music called rock is taking the radio waves and music stores by storm.

Rock also known as pop music has been popular since the time of Elvis Presley, the King of pop himself, who popularized it. Many people, young and old alike, enjoy listening to it. But some are questioning that rock music is evil. Evil in the sense that an artist who plays rock is giving the people some bad reputation, and that’s what other say. Some consider rock as just noise and not music, and the artist who plays rock music are labeled as a rebel, someone engage into illegal drugs or the extreme, a Satanist. Are all of these mere allegations or are there real a proofs to back up such claims?

Generally, people regard rock music as just noise, because of some songs with distorted voices, vague lyrics and loud background instruments that is not pleasing to the ear unlike what most pop music has to offer. However, although there are indeed rock songs which are heavy our ears and seems rubbish, there are still some which have meaningful lyrics and are worthy to listen to. Even some Christian songs are rock. As for another thing, people think that rock artists or bands are drug addicts or those who believed in the occult because of their appearance which usually consists of a dirty and rugged looks, heavily-lined eyes, unusual hairstyles and all-black "goth" clothes and accessories. They are also known to have remarkable skinny bodies.

Music is an expression of one’s self and different artist express themselves in varying manners. It’s up to the listeners if they shall accept it or not. It’s up to the listener if he/she will let the singers influence them and their personality. To those bewildered, misguided people who are afraid of listening to rock, if you truly believe that there is a God up there, why be afraid of bands that are just playing their own cool music and enjoying themselves? Peace to all who truly understand the music that they are listening to.
